What is Biological Medicine?

Biological Medicine is an integration of the health care practices of European homeopathy and homotoxicology, naturopathy, anthroposophical medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and the ancient medical system of Ayurveda. It is holistic in that it believes that all parts of a person are interconnected - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual - but also takes into account the external factors influencing a person's life.

The Principles of Biological Medicine

The guiding principle of its diagnostic and therapeutic methods is the maintenance of the human bio-system and its regulatory mechanisms.

Biological medicine teaches us that physically we are what we eat, drink, and breathe, while mentally and emotionally we are how we feel, live, and work. It is therefore important that we absorb (on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level) elements that nourish us and eliminate elements that are toxic to us. Any change from this ideal state restricts our body's state of balance, which can lead to dis-ease.

In Biological Medicine, symptoms of diseases are considered alarm signals that the body isn't adapting to its environment and/or its internal milieu is disturbed. These symptoms are the final manifestation of what usually is a long pathological chain of events. The initial causative factors often lie in much deeper dimensions, far removed from the apparent symptom. Thus the aim in Biological Medicine is to treat the root cause of these symptoms, and in so doing, returning the body to a state of balance.

The Goals of Biological Medicine

Since all healing is, in essence, “self-healing”, the primary goal of Biological Medicine is to empower the human organism to heal itself. The biologically oriented practitioner helps facilitate this process generally through the use of a wide variety of non-invasive and non-toxic techniques.

It is therefore also important for the patient to participate fully in their own health and healing, since many of their symptoms may be a manifestation of their environmental and lifestyle choices.
